Over 100 years of history, and a future shining bright!
From our beginnings as a light opera and drama society in 1920, mainly performing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas with the occasional play, we have developed and expanded throughout the years into an amateur theatre company able to attempt anything from large modern musicals to charity reviews.

Behind the Curtain: Cranbrook Operatic & Dramatic Society
CODS is an amateur theatre society, but with aspirations to produce high quality shows that provide maximum enjoyment for our audience whilst maintaining high production values. As a charity, we also have a broader objective of making the dramatic arts accessible to our broader community, both audience and performers.
We are an inclusive organisation and try as hard as we can to take into account everyone’s needs – for example we have successfully integrated members with varying levels of disability into several of our recent shows, both on and back stage.
We believe we are also unique (as an amateur society) in our area in providing a BSL (British Sign Language) interpreted performance of all of our shows and are researching ways to assist members of our audience with other difficulties.
