CODS & Queen’s Hall: A Creative Partnership at the Core
Cranbrook Operatic and Dramatic Society (CODS) is proud to call The Queen’s Hall Theatre its creative home—an essential part of our identity and the foundation for every performance we stage.
Since the theatre’s inception, CODS has embraced its professional-grade facilities to deliver productions of exceptional quality, from spring plays and summer revues to autumn musicals and our much-loved charity pantomimes.
The Queen’s Hall offers not just technical excellence, but a welcoming space where our cast, crew, and audiences feel truly connected. Every spotlight, every set change, every standing ovation is shaped by the theatre’s versatility and warmth. CODS and The Queen’s Hall share more than a venue—they share a vision: to celebrate community, elevate local talent, and keep the spirit of live theatre thriving in the heart of Cranbrook.

The Queen’s Hall Theatre: A Stage Built on Passion and Purpose
The beating heart of Cranbrook’s cultural life, The Queen’s Hall Theatre stands as a testament to community vision and artistic ambition.
First opened in 1976 and lovingly refurbished in 1996, this state-of-the-art venue was born from a shared dream—funded by Cranbrook School, the Education Authority, and public subscription—to create a space where professional and amateur performance could thrive side by side.
Nestled in the heart of the Weald of Kent, the theatre boasts adaptable seating for over 350, a retractable cinema screen, intelligent lighting rigs, and a high-spec sound system. Its flexible staging—from proscenium arch to theatre-in-the-round—makes it a magnet for touring companies and local talent alike.
For nearly five decades, The Queen’s Hall has hosted a rich tapestry of drama, music, comedy, and film, earning its reputation as one of Kent’s premier performance spaces.
